It seems as though the world is coming about, tacking into a New Wind that's green, sustainable and promising. What a difference of a couple of years of an improved attitude about the sciences reporting the state of global warming, numerous well-researched (and readable) books, an Oscar winning documentary and finally a Noble Peace Prize for a Planetary hero, Al Gore. Moreover, more business and government leaders are stepping forward with an authentic stance towards making the "possibility" of a sustainable future more real. For us, it means The Beginning for a new business paradigm, and a new philosophy for living on Planet Earth has arrived.
While the prospect of a
robust future is by no means assured, we're concerned to see a serious trend
towards negative thinking about our chances of addressing global warming, or the many other global problems we face. If anything, we suggest this is our greatest era as
human beings, for our challenge is to demonstrate our potentiality in everything we do. There is no question that we have an incredible innate ability to
come forward with our best attributes when the circumstances are at their
worst. This is not one of those times. These are not the circumstances that
call for short-term fixes. We can not allow ourselves to believe in the fallacy of incrementalism - the hope that small steps lead us to transformations. They do not. What we need to do is to begin to design the fundamental aspects of our next
civilization. Believe it or not, history clearly shows us that none of our
predecessors have ever done that.
In essence, the conversation that you will find here, and the discussions
